English Weather

My friends, England might have even more bipolar weather than Kansas. Which is sayin' something.
For instance, yesterday morning at 8:30 as Erica and I were making our journey to the Riverside campus, it was sunny and absolutely gorgeous. I brought my coat because my weather app told me it was in the low 40's, but it was anything but coat wearing weather. After our 3 hour lecture, we left the building to a dark, ominous sky and a cold, light drizzle of rain. Of course I changed into my hot pink wellies to walk to lunch. I put them on any chance I get. I stick out like a true American, but my hot pink wellies are just delightful and I love em. And all the sweet British women who work in the dining hall compliment me, so I feel a tad less ridiculous wearing them.

Black skirt with my wellies on Monday.
It is quite the struggle finding an appropriate outfit to go with neon pink. I was rather proud of myself today when  I wore navy blue skinny jeans, a grey 3/4 classic tee shirt, and my navy blue Gap scarf that has a splash of hot pink in it. It completed my outfit and coordinated with my wellies perfectly.

Besides delighting in the classic English rainy weather, we have had some incredible sunsets behind our house. I usually take a longer route to our house so I can come in from the back and peer at Wales. One day, Erica and I raced to see who would make it home first. I won, but literally ran like someone was chasing me. Backpack and all. I bet I looked real cute...Hello fellas! NOT.

This past week in between the sun and the rain, the weather has been getting bitterly cold. We have our heat on in the house, and make a cup of hot tea every time we get home to warm up. Today, we did laundry for the second time in A MONTH (hallelujah we have clean towels!! And oh my lands we have been here for a month!?!) and after we left the dungeon-like basement where the launderette is, it was POURING. Lucky for us, we had to drag our suitcases through campus and up the road to our house. Super cute, we know.

And just to leave you with something real good...We sorta make our parents facilitate a FaceTime with Bella and Anna every time they call. Oh how I wish I could smooch my favorite furry sisters.

Short and sweet today, but expect another blog within a couple days.
XOXO. Sending my love back to the US!
